About Family Vault

We built this because grief is hard enough without chaos.

The moment

Most families don’t plan until someone dies. Then, in the space of days, executors face thousands of decisions:

  • Where is the will?
  • What did they want for the funeral?
  • Which banks held their accounts?
  • What was their healthcare wish?

No one knows. Guessing in grief costs time, costs money, and eats at the relationship between family members.

The problem we saw

Tools exist: password managers for secrets, document storage for files, solicitors for law. But nothing bridges the gap—a place where one person can record wishes, not for security, but for clarity.

And nothing helps families execute once someone dies. Probate takes 6–12 months. Solicitors cost thousands. Executors spend 100+ hours notifying institutions, chasing replies, tracking deadlines.

What we built

A vault where families plan ahead—wishes, will location, accounts, healthcare. Free, forever.

Membership adds the encrypted document store and memories—the full picture an executor needs.

And when it’s time, a concierge who handles the letters, the tracking, the noise. Because the executor’s job isn’t to become a secretary. It’s to grieve and to make sure the deceased’s wishes matter.

Why Ireland first

Ireland’s death processing is distinct: the Probate Office, the GRO, the Revenue interview. Solicitors. Institutions that move at paper speed. And an ageing population—more deaths, more estates, more chaos.

Irish families are also credit-union trusting, solicitor-aware, and serious about getting it right. That’s our market.

Why we stay independent

Family Vault isn’t a bank, an insurer, or a solicitor. We’re a neutral tool in a messy process. That neutrality matters. Families trust us because we have no agenda except clarity.

How we work

Honesty first

We say what we don’t do: legal advice, financial planning, medical guidance. We introduce people to solicitors, accountants, and doctors. We don’t replace them.

Data is sacred

We encrypt what matters (PPS numbers, account details) so we never see them unencrypted. We audit every access. We never sell data.

Defaults toward free

The core planning tool is free forever. No subscription trap. If you want the vault and memories, that’s where we charge. If you need help at the end, that’s separate.

Deaths are human-verified

We don’t auto-unlock cases. A person on our team checks the corroboration before any letter leaves our service. Grief is too important for automation alone.

We’re in this for the long game

We’re building for 20+ years. That means sustainable fees, not venture gambling. No exits that leave families stranded.
